If you’re searching for the best desserts in Seoul, you’re in for a seriously sweet treat. Seoul knows how to do desserts – fluffy cakes, icy bingsu, perfect pastries, and jaw-dropping parfaits that are almost too pretty to eat. Almost! In this blog, we’re taking you café hopping across the city, from trendy Hongdae to the artistic streets of Seongsu, to uncover our top dessert spots. Whether you’re into vegan sweets, fusion flavors, or good old whipped cream, here’s where your sweet tooth will feel right at home – and where to find the best desserts in Seoul.

Ugly Bakery, located in Hongdae, has so many mouthwatering choices, and we have to admit that we were a little overwhelmed. But we got lucky and met the most amazing couple in line, who not only helped us choose, but later took us to our very first Korean baseball game.

We finally decided on a bread bun stuffed with green onion cream cheese. Just something savory, as we hadn’t had breakfast yet. But we also got their signature dessert, a coffee mammoth, on recommendation from the friendly couple. It was creamy, crunchy, and super flavorful! And as this wasn’t enough sugar, we also got two soft buns, one filled with matcha, the other with lemon cream, and it was one of the best things we ever had. Ugly was our first dessert bakery experience in South Korea, and it set the bar extremely high for our nearly 3-month journey through this incredible country.

Tip: Each week they announce the dessert flavors they will have on Instagram. Be prepared to queue, as the lines are long and they sell out fast- but the wait is definitely worth it.

The moment you step into Artist Bakery in Jongno, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Europe. The space is filled with charm—think shelves lined with souvenirs like coffee cups, and cute little things to browse while you wait. And the pastries? Pure perfection. They are known for their buttery croissants, savory and sweet, and they will make you forget that you’re in Korea. The vibe is cool and calm, and a hip place to go in Seoul.

Tip: Try to go during weekdays to avoid crowds – but be prepared that you will still have to wait a while. They have an extra line for takeaway if you are in a hurry.

You’ve probably seen it all over Instagram—and trust us, the hype is real. Cafe Onion in Anguk is set inside a traditional Korean Hanok, blending old-world charm with a jaw-dropping pastry counter that might just ruin all other bakeries for you. Their Pandoro, almond croissants, and unique seasonal items are worth the queue. Grab a seat on the steps outside or enjoy the Hanok-style seating on the floor inside. Don’t forget to take your shoes off.

Cafe Onion is so good that we went there more than once. Our first time was a melon croissant pastry that we shared, and it was incredible. Our second time there, we learned from the first time, and we didn’t share! We had a hazelnut cream cheese-filled pastry sandwich and a tower of powdered sugar – the famous Pandoro. Both didn’t disappoint, and if there weren’t so many more amazing places to go and try, believe us, we would have come back here every day.

Innisfree The Isle, Seongsu, is a pop-up cosmetics store and has a great coffee shop in the back. We really loved the design of the inside, almost like a rainforest, with movies playing on the wall. They offer beautiful sweets that are very intricately made and decorated. We had tiramisu red bean with an “egg” on top- outstanding! No need to say that I was super excited as the desserts were presented in a Korean-typical cute style – and the combination of cosmetics and sweets – so very Seoul!

Soft, sweet, and oh-so-nostalgic—Peony Yeonnam Café in Mapo-gu is famous for its iconic strawberry cream cake. Layers of pillowy sponge and fresh strawberries filled with cream so light it might float away.

It’s a must for lovers of all things retro and romantic. Of course, we had to try the famous cake—and we couldn’t resist the strawberry ice flake bingsu either. Just watch the locals dig in and follow their lead… It’s an art form of its own!

Looking for something next level? Vetiver in Seongdong is dessert heaven for aesthetes. From the moment your plate hits the table, you’ll be snapping photos of their picture-perfect presentations. We shared what they called a Croffle, which was a Waffle with vanilla ice cream and black sesame topping. We had never tried sesame topping before, and to be honest, we were totally obsessed. And soon we were eating sesame ice cream and other sesame-flavored treats everywhere we could!

We highly recommend this place – we promise, you’re in for a treat!

Located in one of our favorite neighborhoods, Seongdong, Han Jung Sun is a very popular place for sweet mochi with fresh fruit inside.  We decided on a delicious mochi with strawberry and red bean and were not disappointed. Another great treat from a place that is very popular on Instagram and TikTok, so be prepared to queue. Chewy mochi on the outside and a plump, fresh strawberry inside. Can’t get any better!

Tucked away in the winding alleys of Ikseon-dong, we stumbled upon Soha Salt-Pond—and the long queue told us we were onto something good.

Upper and Under might be called a coffee house, but it doesn’t just serve coffee! If you’re in Gangnam and need a quick sugar boost, this is your go-to. They serve a very special drink: the Einspänner. Sweet, creamy, and ridiculously satisfying, it’s dessert in a cup.

We also couldn’t resist trying their pastry and had the Green Mini matcha cake filled with matcha and a mini vanilla cake filled with vanilla cream. And, like pretty much everything we tried in Seoul, it was dangerously good and totally addictive. Our mouths water just thinking of it.

Welcome to Kotton.Seoul, where you will feel like you are on a cloud and the aesthetics are on point. Located in Jongno, it’s a haven for those who love minimalistic and modern design paired with great coffee. You’ll want to photograph everything—and then order seconds. Even if the dessert variety is not as wide as other places, Kotton.Seoul offers sweet delights such as chocolate butter pie. Lean back and soak it all in—this place is a magnet for Instagram-worthy shots.

We really enjoyed Bunker Company Apgujeong– the interior design is super cool, and the coffee was some of the best we had in Seoul. We didn’t try any of the delicious-looking desserts, but they had many selections, and they looked incredible.

If you’re going to try bingsu in Seoul, Sulbing is the place to do it – especially if you want to experience this beloved Korean dessert at its most iconic. We visited the Daechi Branch and ordered the Black Sesame Snowflakes Bingsu. We wanted to try a new flavor – and wow, it was absolute heaven!

Fluffy, finely shaved ice that melts like snowflakes, paired with the nutty richness of black sesame—pure magic in a bowl. The portion was enormous, and we were glad to see that most people were sharing, else we wouldn’t have finished it on our own.

If you’re looking for bingsu in Seoul, this is a must-visit.

Tucked away on a quiet side street, Cafe Turtle instantly charmed us with its cozy vibes, quirky decor, and inviting atmosphere. But the real star was their vegan cakes. Soft, flavorful, and beautifully presented, these dreamy slices are the stuff of sweet-tooth daydreams.

They also serve great coffee and teas, and their dessert menu rotates with the seasons—so there’s always something new to try. If you’re exploring Seoul and need a break from the hustle and bustle, Cafe Turtle is the perfect mid-afternoon escape. It was our favorite vegan dessert cafes in Seoul!

Just a few steps away from Cafe Turtle is The Rabbit, an adorable little vegan bakery that we absolutely fell in love with. Everything here is 100% plant-based, freshly baked, and seriously delicious.

From warm bagels to fantastic tea cakes and tarts, and even soft serve, every bite is a winner. If we’d been staying closer, we’re pretty sure we would’ve ended up here every day. For anyone searching for vegan bagels and pastries in Seoul, The Rabbit is a hidden gem worth hunting down.
