Why Many House Sitters Are Leaving Trusted Housesitters
Mind My House house sitting has become a real alternative for many sitters and homeowners after the surprising — and honestly disheartening — announcements by Trusted Housesitters.
Over the last few years, Trusted Housesitters has repeatedly shown that the ideas, needs, and wishes of its members are simply not a priority anymore. For a platform that once built its reputation on trust and community, this shift feels deeply disappointing.
First, they introduced the 5-applicant rule, limiting homeowners to only five applications per sit. Despite massive feedback from the community, they refused to implement a simple and fair solution — such as allowing homeowners to choose whether they want 5, 10, or unlimited applications.
Now came the next blow: additional booking fees, charged not only to sitters but also to homeowners. These fees are justified as “adding more service and commitment,” yet no real additional value has been introduced. Additionally, members cannot access their own accounts unless they accept the new Terms & Conditions, with no option to decline. For us, and for many others, this is an absolute no-go.
It’s no surprise that the frustration level is overflowing, and more and more members are leaving. Not because they dislike house sitting, but because they don’t want to be treated this way. Sometimes, it’s simply a matter of principle.
Why We Chose Mind My House for House Sitting
After carefully looking at alternatives, we decided to join Mind My House, a house sitting platform that has quietly been around since 2005.
Mind My House is family-run, personal, and refreshingly human. If you need support, you’re not talking to a chatbot — you’re talking to real people.
We were fully aware when signing up that Mind My House doesn’t have as many listings as Trusted Housesitters and that the website isn’t as flashy or modern. But for us, trust, fairness, and transparency matter far more than fancy design.
And honestly? For the price, it’s an absolute no-brainer.
Mind My House Costs – Simple, Fair and Transparent
One of the biggest advantages of Mind My House house sitting is the pricing:
- House sitters: USD $29 per year
- Homeowners: USD $29 for a lifetime membership
No hidden fees. No booking fees, and no forced upgrades.
Tip:
If you’d like to save 50% on your Mind My House membership, send us your email, and we’ll happily share our discount code with you. You save money — and we receive three months of membership for free. A win-win for everyone.
How Does Mind My House Work?
Since joining Mind My House, we’ve received a lot of questions from our community — from both sitters and homeowners — about how the platform actually works and whether it’s worth it.
That’s exactly why we’re writing this guide.
In the next sections, we’ll walk you through how everything on Mind My House works, trying to answer all your questions.
Mind My House Pricing – Fair, Simple and Transparent
When it comes to Mind My House house sitting, pricing is refreshingly straightforward — and honestly, one of the biggest reasons why so many people are giving this platform a chance.
At Mind My House, house sitters and homeowners pay the same fee:
- USD $29 standard membership
- Reduced to USD $15 with a referral code
For house sitters, this fee covers a full-year membership.
For homeowners, it’s even better: a lifetime membership — with no additional booking fees, no upgrades, and no hidden costs.
Compared to other house-sitting platforms, this pricing model feels fair, transparent, and very much aligned with the idea of a community rather than a profit-driven business.
How Do You Get a Mind My House Referral Code?
Getting a Mind My House referral code is easy.
Simply send us your email address, and we’ll forward the code to you:
- Email: hello@putteringaroundtheworld.com
- Instagram: send us a private message
- Facebook: possible, but please note we’re not very active there.
Can You Refer Friends to Mind My House?
Yes — and this is another lovely feature of Mind My House house sitting.
Once you’re a member, you can refer friends yourself. All you need is their email address.
- As a house sitter:
- You receive 3 months of free membership
- Your friend gets 50% off their first year
- As a homeowner:
- You already have a lifetime membership
- But if you want to support us and help grow the Mind My House community, we’d truly appreciate it if you send us the email address of your friend who wants to join
It’s a simple system that actually rewards community growth — without pressure.
Is Mind My House a Global House Sitting Platform?
Yes — Mind My House is global.
At the moment, the number of international listings is still smaller compared to larger platforms. But if more homeowners decide to make the switch, this could become something great — with the same people, just a different platform.
Does Mind My House Have an App?
No — Mind My House currently only works via their website.
That said, the website is mobile-friendly and works well on phones and tablets. And who knows? If the platform continues to grow, maybe an app will be on the horizon one day 😉
Can You Transfer Your Reviews From Another Platform?
Yes — and this is a huge plus.
You can transfer your existing reviews from other house-sitting platforms to Mind My House. You can also:
- Set email alerts
- “Heart” your favourite listings

How to Transfer Your Reviews to Mind My House
To transfer your reviews, you have to have an existing account at the platform the reviews are on.
Here’s how it works:
- Click on the three lines (menu) in the top left corner if you view from your mobile. From the laptop you can scroll down to the Footer.
- Scroll down and select “Bring My Reputation”

- Choose the house sitting platform you’re coming from
- Add your profile link from that platform

That’s it!
The process usually takes a couple of days, and once completed, the reviews will appear directly on your Mind My House profile.
Tip:
We always recommend saving screenshots of all your reviews and references, just to have them safely stored for yourself.
Can You Transfer References as Well?
Unfortunately, references cannot be transferred at the moment.
That said, we will follow up and ask whether this might be possible in the future — especially since some of our references are reviews of housesits we did outside of THS. We’ll update this section if anything changes.
Can You See Reviews for Sitters and Homeowners?
Yes — just like on Trusted Housesitters, both parties can leave and view reviews.
This transparency is crucial and helps build trust on both sides.
Mind My House Reviews – Why Only 3.8 Stars on Trustpilot?
Yes, Mind My House has around 3.8 stars on Trustpilot (Trusted Housesitters has 3.7). And if you look specifically at the 1-star reviews, a few recurring themes show up. Most negative feedback is not about scams or unsafe situations, but rather about expectations.
Many reviewers mention:
- An outdated website design and limited search functions
- Slower customer service responses
- Fewer listings, especially when compared to Trusted Housesitters
- Disappointment that Mind My House doesn’t “step in” during conflicts
Mind My House is a small, family-run platform, not a tech giant with venture capital behind it. It’s more hands-off, simpler, and requires more personal responsibility from both sitters and homeowners.
If, however, you value fair pricing, transparency, real people behind the scenes, and a calmer house sitting experience, Mind My House can absolutely work — especially when you communicate clearly and choose sits carefully.
As always with house sitting: reviews, communication, and gut feeling matter more than star ratings alone.
Mind My House Customer Service
We’ve just signed up to Mind My House and haven’t needed customer support yet.
From what we’ve seen, the platform is family-run and approachable, not automated like bigger platforms. We’ll update this section with our real experience as soon as we contact them, so you’ll know exactly how responsive and helpful their support really is.
For now, it’s good to know that personal support is a core part of Mind My House, which is reassuring for both sitters and homeowners.
Update: Our review for Mind My House
Easy to Use, Fast Support, Highly Recommended
We recently signed up for Mind My House, and even though we are still very new to the community, we have only positive things to say so far. The website is easy to use. It may not be the most modern in design, but it offers everything you need to navigate the platform smoothly and efficiently.
One feature we absolutely love is that Mind My House allows you to transfer reviews from other house-sitting platforms, which means you don’t have to start from scratch — a huge plus for experienced sitters.
What really stood out to us was the customer support. It was honestly one of the fastest we’ve ever experienced. We had a few questions, and Alan got back to us within 15 minutes! His response was friendly and helpful, and he made sure all our questions were answered thoroughly.
Overall, we’re very happy with our experience so far and can highly recommend Mind My House to anyone looking for a reliable house-sitting platform.

Is Mind My House Vetted? (Background Checks & ID Verification)
This is an important question. Like many other house-sitting platforms, Mind My House is primarily a platform connecting sitters and homeowners. The responsibility for vetting each other lies mostly with the users themselves.
You can add a police check to your profile, which some sitters and homeowners choose to do for extra trust. But as far as we know, this is the main form of verification currently offered. Mind My House does not automatically perform background checks or official ID verification on every member.
Join the Mind My House Community!
We’ve just signed up to Mind My House house sitting, and already it feels like a platform built for connection and community.
This is a space where sitters and homeowners can meet, communicate directly, and build trust. For anyone looking to explore new opportunities, meet like-minded people, and be part of a supportive house-sitting network, Mind My House is a great place to start.
We’re excited to see what sits are out there and to meet others on the platform. After all, house sitting is not just about houses — it’s about people, pets, and connections.
👍 thank you. Community building is much valued. 💕 Jan
Thank you for this article. I live in UK. Does the work in UK?
Hello Lynda,
Yes, it works in the UK. The sits are worldwide and you can go to the website and have a look, even if you are not a member yet. We hope that helps and please let us know if you have any further questions.
